The cover of OK! Weekly magazine featuring a grim photo of Michael Jackson shortly before he was declared dead is causing a stir on the Internet.
OK! Magazine reportedly paid $500,000 for the rights to use the death photo of Michael Jackson on the cover of their latest issue entitled Michael Jackson World Exclusive The Last Photos–on newsstands now.
The cover trumpets that these are the “last photos” of Jackson.
OK!’s editorial director defends the decision to use the photo since it will set the magazine apart from the usual feel-good tributes out there.
“It’s a photo that captures the surprise and the upset and the moment of this breaking news story,” says Sarah Ivens. “I hope the cover will provoke readers. It celebrated the man, but it also does expose that he was an eccentric character who lived a very controversial life.”
But they’ve gotten more reaction than they bargained for.
The New York Post has reported that Sean Combs and Jay-Z are said to be so furious, “they’re organizing a boycott,”
A rep for OK! has denied the boycott to the Post. “This is untrue. No one at OK! has been contacted about any such cancellations as a result of the magazine’s coverage of this news event. Any pages booked by the advertising team are running as scheduled.”
Even without a boycott, why the outrage over a photo that already aired Friday on the entertainment news show “The Insider?”

This is so reprehensible that I am sickened, not so much for the photo as the actions paparazzi will go through to get the cash. Our society has no need for this, and history, as it has all others like you in the past, will expose your repulsive lack of character that allows you to do anything for the cash? None of you would want this done to one of your loved ones, but then again you would probably even do it to them, just for the buck! Sad thing is they probably would say they understand and still love you! It is a sick and twisted experience you waste your life pursueing and when those late final reflections infect your mind in your waning hours of life itself, you will suddenly realize the waste that your life’s endeavor was. Just trying to help you out….good luck…hope you learn to live before you die.
