Away from the spotlight of the Tour de France and back in Spain, his home country, Alberto Contador took the chance Monday to say what he really felt about his Astana teammate Lance Armstrong.

“My relationship with Lance is non-existent.  Even if he is a great champion, I have never had admiration for him and I never will.”Contador said at a news conference, one day after winning his second Tour.

At the Tour, Contador and Armstrong, a seven-time Tour winner, fought to be the leader of Astana, a team based in Kazakhstan. Both riders will be departing the team at the end of this season. Armstrong, 37, will ride for the new Team RadioShack, based in the United States. Contador, 26, wants to sign with another team.

The two became teammates when Armstrong joined Astana after coming out of a three-and-a-half-year retirement in the fall. He and Astana’s team manager, Johan Bruyneel, are close friends and worked together during Armstrong’s Tour victories.

With two Tour champions on the same team, many wondered how their relationship would play out, particularly when each of them wanted to win the Tour again.

Meanwhile,Team Astana threw a party for Tour de France (TdF) winner Alberto Contador. Much to noone’s surprise, His Majesty Seven Time Tour de France Winner Lance Armstrong refused to attend.

What did Lance do, instead?

He got sauced. He went to dinner with some guys from Radio$hack and “had a few more glasses of wine than normal”.

NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamine for the second time and lawyers for the racing series argued the driver should have his ban reinstated, according to a motion filed in federal court Wednesday.

According to court documents filed by NASCAR Wednesday, Jeremy Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamine in a random drug test administered last week by the sanctioning body, the Associated Press is reporting.

The positive result from a July 6 random test was included in a U.S. District Court filing Wednesday that asked the federal judge who lifted Mayfield’s drug suspension to reinstate the ban. The filing included an affidavit from Mayfield’s stepmother, Lisa, who said she witnessed the driver using methamphetamine at least 30 times over seven years.It was also reported that NASCAR’s filing said that the “A” sample levels from the July 6 test showed levels of methamphetamine consistent with a habitual, high dose user.

“Between 1998 and 2005, I am personally aware that Jeremy used methamphetamines often,” she said in her affidavit. “I was concerned about his heavy use and talked to his father about it. I saw Jeremy use methamphetamine by snorting it up his nose at least 30 times during the 7 years I was around him. Jeremy used methamphetamine not only in my presence, but also when we were both in the presence of others.”

On May 8 NASCAR announced Mayfield had been indefinitely suspended from racing for failing a drug test, though it wasn’t until a little over two weeks ago that NASCAR confirmed methamphetamine was the drug Mayfield had tested positive for in a random test administered on May 1.

Mayfield contested his stepmother’s account.

“I don’t trust anything NASCAR does, anything Dr. David Black does, never have, never will,” Mayfield told The Associated Press in a phone interview. Black is the administrator for NASCAR’s drug-testing program.

“And they picked the wrong woman to use against me because that (expletive) is trash and has got nothing on me but lies.”

Mayfield was the first driver suspended under NASCAR’s new stringent testing policies put in place for the 2009 season. The new policy made pre-season testing mandatory for drivers, crew members and series officials and also allowed for random testing during the season. NASCAR’s former drug policy was based on testing of individuals based on suspicion.

Mayfield, 39, has made five starts this season in the Sprint Cup Series for a team that he began prior to the season opening Daytona 500. His best finish of the season, 32nd, came at Talladega Superspeedway on April 26. Mayfield hasn’t driven full-time in the Sprint Cup Series since 2005. The Owensboro, Ky. native, made his Sprint Cup Series debut in 1993 and has made 433 starts in the division. He has five career Sprint Cup Series victories – the last coming in 2005 – along with 48 top-5 finishes and 96 top-10’s. He was released from his ride with what was then Evernham Motorsports in Aug. 2006. He made 25 starts over the last two seasons for various teams.

While he hasn’t given his employers an official notice, 35-year-old Baltimore Ravens receiver Derrick Mason says he’s going to retire after 12 seasons in the National Football League.

Mason’s retirement is still unofficial, Ravens senior vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne told BaltimoreRavens.com, saying that Mason has yet to file the necessary paperwork with the NFL.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise, especially because Derrick’s decision was based more on (lack of) desire than any kind of contractual squabble.

Derrick’s agent, C. Lamont Smith, released the following statement today:

“On Friday July 10, I received a call from my client Derrick Mason and he advised me that after careful and deep thought he had made a decision to retire from professional football. He indicated that he did not want me to continue to seek a contract extension from the Baltimore Ravens and that his decision had little if anything to do with Baltimore’s refusal to grant him an extension. He stated that emotionally and physically he did not feel up to the enormous demands that professional football requires to compete at the level that he is accustomed to competing. He asked me to delay the announcement of this decision out of respect for his former teammate Steve McNair, so we obviously complied with his request. After speaking with Derrick, I telephoned Ozzie Newsome, the Ravens’ general manager and advised him of Derrick’s decision. Given that Derrick just reached this decision on Friday, he has not as of yet filed official papers with the league offices. We expect that he will do this when he gets around to it. Derrick has indicated that he does not wish to do interviews at this time and respectfully requests that the media refrain from making such requests of him for the next two weeks.”

However,The Baltimore Ravens have refused to confirm a story  that receiver Derrick Mason has decided to retire.

“For any player to retire, he has to send a letter to the NFL stating this,” Ravens spokesman Kevin Byrne said in a statement. “Derrick Mason has not done that.”

A 13-year veteran of the NFL, Mason played much of the 2008 season with a painful shoulder injury, one that required offseason surgery, and was still struggling to recover during Baltimore’s workouts in early June. At the time, Mason indicated that he may not be ready for the start of training camp.

Mason  was a speaker at the memorial service for his friend Steve McNair last week.

Reportedly, Arturo Gatti was found dead in a Dorisol hotel (located on Porto de Galinhas beach, Brazil) room on Saturday morning at 6am, July 11, 2009, when he was celebrating his 2nd honeymoon with his wife, Amanda Rodrigues Gatti and 1-year-old son.

According to investigations, Arturo and Amanda Gatti had a verbal fight at a bar on Friday before returning to their hotel room. The following day Amanda Rodrigues Gatti said she went out for a walk with their son and found Arturo dead in their hotel room when she returned. However investigations have also shown that one of Amanda’s purses had been used to strangle and asphyxiate Arturo.

Michael Jackson’s Memorial Service, which will be six hours long, will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 1 p.m., Eastern Time today (July 7). The event will be covered worldwide so the fans, who can’t be there, will be able to follow everything via several live feeds online.

A huge online audience, many watching from PCs at work where TV wasn’t available, streamed the event live. That taxed the Internet’s overall performance and slowed some sites, according to Keynote Systems, a website monitoring firm.

The ripples were felt nationwide. It took Talia Andrews, a public relations representative in New York, up to a minute to change Web pages. “It shows how an event can really reshape the way we use the Internet.”

DeWitt is 60-years-old. She played the part of Janet Wood on the hit television series, Three’s Company. The show ran from 1977 through 1984 and starred DeWitt, John Ritter and Suzanne Somers.

Police said that DeWitt was pulled over on Saturday afternoon after she drove past a barricade near an El Segundo park.

Sgt. Danny Kim says their officer arrested Joyce DeWitt, 60, after noticing she had been drinking and giving her the standard field sobriety tests.

DeWitt was released after posting  $5,000 bail.

in the wake of this weekend’s tragic news about the death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, it seems there have been more questions than answers about the horrific event. As details came in, the story gets more and more bizarre, but certainly not any less sad.

TMZ acquired five photos of former NFL QB Steve McNair vacationing with Sahel Kazemi, the woman who likely murdered him and then killed herself early Saturday.

In the photos, McNair and Kazemi can be seen parasailing together on some kind of beach getaway. It’s clear the two had some sort of special relationship.TMZ posted photos of the couple parasailing they claim are from about three months ago.

Meanwhile,The Tennessean has posted a photo gallery of images captured from Sahel Kazemi’s Facebook account.The photo shows two girls sitting atop a black Cadillac Escalade. The paper also reported today that Steve McNair gave a black Escalade to Kazemi for her 20th birthday in May.

McNair, a former NFL MVP who was married with four children, was 36 years old.
